WITCHKING DAGGER (2008) - Prop replica for United Cutlery's Lord of the Rings Weapons and Armor line. I supervised the prop replicas for over fifty items for UC's LOTR line, replicated directly from the Weta Workshop props. From Peter Jackson's film adaptation of Tolkien's book, The Fellowship of the Ring. This one was always one of my favorites, and a fan favorite. It did not get made when the Fellowship of the Ring came out, but luckily it is now part of the replica collection. Here is the prototype in progress. It was released in early 2009. Photos of the first Witchking dagger protoype and parts. paint weathering effect have not yet been added and the blade finish it too clean and shiny - October 2008
Photos of the second Witchking dagger protoype and the Weta prop - November 2008. This is the final version with all weathering and paint effects added. I would have liked some paint effect on the blade to match the prop more closely but time constraints and cost prohibited this. Overall, the replica came out very well. |
