Workmate Esquire Replica and Photo Gallery |
THE FENDER CUSTOM SHOP MASTERBUILT REPLICA - In 2017 David had the Fender Custom Shop make a replica of the Workmate for the Pink Floyd Mortal Remains Exhibition. The original Workmate was displayed at the London exhibition in 2017, but when the replica was completed it was used when the exhibition moved to Dortmund, Germany in 2018. The replica was built by Fender Custom Shop senior master builder Todd Krause, who also worked on David's Black Strat replica for Fender. The body damage detailing is very close to the original, but not exact, and the bare wood color is brighter than the original. It is unknown what pickups were used. David was first seen using the replica for Richard Thompsons 70th Birthday concert at the Royal labert hall in 2019. He played Fat Old Sun. He later used it in 2022 in the video for the song Hey Hey Rise Up, a song made in support for Ukraine after the Russian invasion. It is unknown if David played the original or the replica on the actual studio recording, but photos of the recording sessions in David's barn studio look like he used the original Workmate On the left is David playing the Workmate replica in 2019.
