GUITAR BACKING TRACKS

Here are a few backing tracks to to play guitar along with. For practice and educational purposes only. Thanks to everyone who made these. Some are basic midi BTs, and some are pro BTs. Many are GXT (guitar extractions) files made from the original tracks, with guitar removed as best as can be done. These GXT files may sound a bit muffled because it is impossible to completely remove all of the guitar, but they are good for practice. Some of these BT's are made from the 5-1 or quad mixes of the songs, with guitar tracks turned off or extracted.

To download to your computer, you need a browser that lets you save audio files. I use Firefox. In Firefox, click on the file on my web page. It opens an audio player bar in the middle of the screen for the backing track. Let the track completely load, then click the pull down menu on the audio bar and select "save as source". Direct it to a location on your computer you wish to place the file. Some browsers may open Quicktime, or similar audio program to play sound files. Most of these let you save the files to your computer after loading.

You may also want to browse karaoke-version.com. They have a selection of the top Pink Floyd songs, with customizable instrument and vocal tracks.

speakerShine on You Crazy Diamond parts 1-5 - mixed from Quad and 5.1 surround tracks, with vocals - I built this BT from actual album extractions. Some guitar solos could not be completely removed, but in most cases they are diminished, and guitar is completely removed from the entire synth intro. Drums and bass levels are a bit choppy in places, but this is the most accurate BT to play guitar to online for this song, since it is timed exactly to the album track. mp3. 12.9MB

speakerShine on You Crazy Diamond parts 6-9 - mixed from Quad and 5.1 surround tracks, with vocals - I created this BT in a similar manner to the SOYCD track above, and similarly, some solos could not be completey removed, but most are diminished. Includes David's dual rhythm guitar lines, and some fills I added to cover gaps in the slide guitar section. 18.8MB
